How I Reversed My Anemia in Under 6 Weeks (Low Ferritin + Hemoglobin Explained)
0:00
I've had anemia my entire life all the way into my 40s and I just handled it with a functional natural doctor in a few weeks. How did I handle my anemia? So first of all, I just want to read to you a few things about anemia to make sure that you understand what it is because there's a lot of misconceptions about the difference between hemoglobin and ferritin and iron storage and oxygen and which one means you're anemic, which one is not, right? Because those are different
labs. Checking your hemoglobin will tell you if you already have anemia or not. Ferritin is your iron storage. So it's your savings account. It's not your checking account. So let me just read to you something. Anemia, low oxygen delivery in the body is mostly caused by low iron. So I think everybody knows that. Here are some common symptoms. Fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, cold hands and feet, and pale skin. A lot of people are anemic and when somebody is diagnosed and I think a lot of
times it's even missed like with me most of my life, but when someone is diagnosed with anemia, the first thing that they get prescribed is iron pills. Now, I was married to a doctor. When I was short of breath and had all these symptoms, he prescribed me iron pills. They did help a little bit, but they have a bunch of weird symptoms. They can absolutely ruin your liver. So good luck with that if you want to take a chance. There just so many side effects to
taking iron pills and they're very hard on you. Now, most of the time it's not even directly because of iron, it's because you could have a copper deficiency. So the iron is not getting absorbed. So you're still trying to eat red meat and liver and things like that and you're not picking up your ferritin levels. Six months ago, my ferritin levels were at about 20. That's very low. And I mean, really you should be at some studies say 50, 60, 70, 80, right? That's for women.
Mine were at 20, very, very low. And then I went to my functional doctor. This is, by the way, anemia's very common for women with heavy periods. We get it checked and my hemoglobin 10, 11, those are anemic levels. You check your hemoglobin and it's that low, you already know that you have anemia. I did not go the medicinal route. I didn't take any iron pills. I always go the natural route, but I really wanted to see, having suffered with this my entire life, can I
reverse it with what my functional doctor had suggested? So, what did he suggest? Number one, don't take liver pills. Done. I've taken them in the past, they do not work well for me. Two, and I've never heard of this and I never tried it. I'm sure many of you have, blackstrap molasses, unsulfured and organic. So, it looks like, for those of you who haven't seen it, it's about this big. It looks like syrup or it looks like agave. It's dark. I love the taste of it.
You may not love the taste of it. You can put it in your tea. You can put it in your plain yogurt. I just love it straight cuz it tastes so good. Of course, there's some natural sugar in it, but it basically tastes like sweet licorice. So, it tastes like candy and it's full of iron. And it has in it magnesium, potassium, calcium, all of these amazing things. I didn't realize it had that much iron in it. So, I just took a teaspoon a day. That's
it. So, it has a little bit of natural, obviously, sugar in it, but I took a teaspoon a day. The other thing I did was I got a little copper cup from my doctor. You can get it on Amazon and you fill it with distilled water overnight. You drink it in the morning to get the copper in. Then in the morning, fill it up again, whatever amount of hours later at night to drink it. So, you're getting one to two, or at least that's what I
did, one to two cups of copper. So, now you have the copper going in with the iron. And the other thing I got was I got raw liver pills. Looks like a capsule, looks like a vitamin. I don't know, doesn't taste bad, I don't taste it. So, if you're not going to get in your little bit of liver every week, a few ounces, or enough red meat, or whatever you need now, then you could do also a raw liver pill. And of course, vitamin C increases
iron absorption. So, those are so simple. I did that for a few weeks, went back to my doctor, he checked my blood again, and it was like a 13.4 yesterday, which means that I had, despite heavy periods and all of these other issues that I had my whole life, and even right after my heavy period, I went and checked, and my hemoglobin was now normal, and as a matter of fact, it was excellent. So, there are natural ways to reverse things, and if you're suffering with
anemia, or your numbers are getting low, which is usually women more than men, those are a few natural cures that could help.
